Q&A:
What would be your media of choice (digital or film)?
Digital since 2001 (because that's the future)
What would you consider your first big break in the business?
3 Covers for Flare magazine / Monaco Grand Prix for Labatt's.
What was your most challenging assignment?
Shooting lingerie on the streets of New York
What is your funniest photo experience?
Working with John Candy dressed up as Boy George for Playboy magazine
What is the most exotic location you've shot in?
St. Lucia; Dubrovnik; Ireland; Paris; Monaco; Ibiza; London; St. Torpez; Anguilla … take your pick.
What was your biggest photo mistake?
Shot 20 rolls of Kodachrome for a fashion magazine spread where 18 rolls came back blank (a couple of days later
after the shoot, of course) – a technical camera problem where the "filement" from the sync on the camera
had burned out?! (something like that) but the strobes kept firing … however, the shutter & flash were out
of sync, resulting in us only getting the little available light at the night club we were shooting in.
What three photographers do you most admire:
Richard Avedon, Penn & Helmut Newton … we're going back to when I started out my career in 1970
Your top three photo tips:
1. Know EVERYTHING about your digital camera because it should only be an extension (a tool) to record your
creative vision
2. Incredible Lighting as it is your paintbrush to powerful images
3.
Quality photos
Your advise to aspiring photographers:
Passion above all in your photography;
Always go with your intuition; Stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone … because if you're not screwing up (polite
form) most of the time, then you're definitely not trying hard enough.
