Charles William Pelletier

portraitCharles William Pelletier is 18 years old lives in Montreal, QC. He started his career as a photographer when he was 15 years old, at an event in Las Vegas. He covered the World Premiere of Criss Angel with Le Cirque du Soleil. After that event, he knew that he wanted to be the best photographer in the world and is currently working hard at achieving that. He has also photographed many concerts including Simple Plan, K'naan, Hedley, Alicia Keys, Billy Talent, M.I.A., Snoop Dogg, Dan Black, Shout Out Louds and much more. Other events Charles William has covered in Montreal include La Semaine de la Mode de Montreal, les Carabins de Montréal, les Alouettes de Montréal, la Formule Un, la PGA, l’Impact de Montréal, Red Bull Crashed Ice and many Cirque du Soleil shows. He says when he takes a picture, there's a feeling inside of him that makes him powerful and happy. He feels he has the power to capture the emotion, just by taking one shot. He loves being a photographer and wouldn't change it for anything!

Q&A:

What would be your media of choice (digital or film)?
Digital

What would you consider your first big break in the business?
The world premiere of Criss Angel with Le Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas when I was 15years old.

What was your most challenging assignment?
My first fashion week ever in Montreal in March 2010.

What is your funniest photo experience?
Working with Le Cirque du Soleil backstage at a show at the Bell Center. The people are so nice and so funny which makes the job so much easier!

What is your 'assignment from hell'?
When it was pouring rain at the Canadian Open! But I was so happy to be there taking pictures that I put a garbage bag on me and one on my lens and continued to take pictures.

What is the most exotic location you've shot in?
Las Vegas, Nevada

What was your biggest photo mistake?
Forget to charge my battery before a concert!

Your idea of the "dream assignment"?
Covering the Olympics or the Fifa World Cup or go travel all around the world to capture the emotion of people in their different lifestyle.

What three photographers do you most admire:
Bernard Brault, Annie Leibovitz, Joey L.

Your top three photo tips:
Be at the right place at the right moment! Smile and have fun because it’s not really a job it’s so much more than that.

If you could change your profession what would it be?
That’s a hard question because I really don’t want to change my profession! But I’ll say Art Teacher.

Your advise to aspiring photographers:
If I could give one advice it should be to never back down if you get refused or if people tell you that you won’t make it. Personally when people say that kind of stuff to me, I gain more power, I’m better and I want to prove to them that they are wrong. Even if you are 16 or 17 years old don’t be shy and be proud of what you make!
