DayMen Canada Announces
Breakthrough New Products from PocketWizard

MARKHAM, ON –DayMen Canada is today announcing the addition of two new PocketWizard wireless radio triggering devices to the existingPocketWizard family of products. Designed to both compliment and integrate with the existing PocketWizard Plus II Transceiver and the PocketWizard MultiMAX, these 2 new models – the Mini TT1 and the Flex TT5, now allow you to achieve true TTL off-camera wireless strobe triggering and control.

Classified AW SeriesProfessional photographers worldwide have depended on PocketWizard wireless triggering systems for reliable performance, advanced features and the greatest operating range. For over two decades they have triggered their flash units and cameras wirelessly, capturing images that would have been impossible to make without PocketWizard. Since the first introduction of PocketWizard, professional photographers have demanded a TTL (Through-The-Lens) flash control PocketWizard system. Now, with the rapid development of digital technology, PocketWizard responds with a simple solution for off-camera TTL flash without limitations or complexity. PocketWizard has made it possible with “Slide-n-Shoot” simplicity by utilizing their new ControlTL™ system featuring the MiniTT1™ Transmitter and FlexTT5™ Transceiver (dedicated for Canon or Nikon camera/flash systems). These new E-TTLII and i-TTL (Canon/Nikon flash systems) enable PocketWizard wireless radios to provide effortless off-camera flash photography.

The MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 offer Pros on-the-go the power of PocketWizard fueled by Canon and Nikon’s advanced TTL flash systems. Now you can get perfect off-camera wireless TTL-Flash images on-location, in the studio, around corners, out-of-sight and even in bright sun. Canon and Nikon shooters can use the new MiniTT1 Transmitter and FlexTT5 Transceiver to control single or multiple off-camera (Canon E-TTLII or Nikon i-TTL) flash units at speeds up to 8/fps.

The MiniTT1 Transmitter is a tiny, low-profile unit (7.1cm x 4.8cm x 3.3cm / 2.8 x 1.9 x 1.3”) that slides into the camera’s hot shoe. The FlexTT5 Transceiver is also low-profile, slightly larger (9.1cm x 7.4cm x 3.6cm / 3.6 x 2.9 x 1.4 in.) and can trigger flash, cameras or both simultaneously. Both radios interpret the complex TTL data communicated through the camera’s hot shoe and digitally transmit the information through a reliable radio signal. Photographers can now place TTL (or manual) flash units anywhere they need to illuminate the scene. Each flash unit (Canon or Nikon) can be connected to a dedicated FlexTT5 Transceiver for wireless TTL operation; there are no wires or connecting cables required. Any change in ISO, aperture or shutter speed is automatically communicated and adjusted wirelessly. Flash exposure compensation changes on the camera are communicated wirelessly via the power control of the TTL flash.

The new MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 are compatible with any PocketWizard for triggering manual flash units or remote cameras. In addition, any manual flash unit can be triggered along with a TTL flash for total flexibility.

These new PocketWizard products are the beginning of the next generation of wireless remote control technology featuring sophisticated ControlTL firmware. Designed from the ground up, ControlTL utilizes the latest in digital camera technology to offer break-through solutions, such as HyperSync™, to overcome impossible camera limitations. HyperSync enables photographers to achieve sync speeds up to 1/500 second not just with TTL flash, but with many flash systems. If you need even faster sync speeds, push beyond 1/500th and go into FP-Speed sync mode automatically. There are no special menus to find or buttons to push just set the desired shutter speed on the camera and the flash will sync up to 1/8000th of a second. Photographers can now use flash with wider apertures for shallow depth of field shots, control back light levels outdoors and capture new creative images never before possible with D-SLR cameras.

The MiniTT1 and the FlexTT5 both have a two-position configuration channel switch with “Learn” mode that can be programmed either by a computer or with another PocketWizard radio. The system works on 3 ControlTL channels (Canon/Nikon A-B-C zone or ratio TTL-Flash control) or any of PocketWizard’s 32 channels including Selective Quad Triggering Zones (A, B, C & D) for non-TTL triggering. Channels, zones, HyperSync time and energy standby time settings along with firmware updates are easily configured using the PocketWizard utility software. Just plug a MiniTT1 or FlexTT5 via USB into a computer (MAC or PC) loaded with PocketWizard utility software, and firmware updates or configuration preferences are a mouse click away.

The new MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 radios can do all this and more. As digital technology advances, more capabilities will be added to the system, offering essentially “future proof” technology. As you would expect, the new MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 are part of the PocketWizard Wireless Freedom system and are fully compatible with Sekonic wireless meters, Dynalite, Profoto, Bowens, Lumidyne, Photogenic and Norman flash systems that incorporate PocketWizard built-in.

The MiniTT1 and Flex TT5 for Canon will be available the end of March 2009 with the Nikon versions to follow mid-April.
